The short answer
Canvas is the secure online platform where your child sees their weekly lessons, watches the video lessons, submits assignments and assessments, tracks progress and messages their teachers. A school day at Saving Grace starts by signing in to Canvas.
Almost everything your child does for school happens in one place, and this is it.
What your child does there
- Sees the structured weekly lessons for each subject
- Watches pre-recorded video lessons from SACE-registered teachers
- Submits assignments, assessments and tests
- Tracks their own progress
- Communicates with their teachers
What a day looks like
Your child signs in, works through the week’s lessons at their own pace, and submits what is due. You facilitate; the teachers provide academic support and detailed feedback on the work.
What you need
A reliable internet connection, a laptop or tablet, and basic stationery. Exams may require you to scan and upload handwritten responses, so work out how you will do that before an exam week rather than during one — a phone scanning app is usually enough.

Invigilation
From Grade 9 upward, formal assessments written through Canvas must use the Invigilator App. Assessments written without it may be disqualified.
If you cannot sign in
Before asking for help, note four things: what you were trying to do, what happened instead, the exact wording of any error message, and which browser and device. Those four turn a two-day exchange into one reply. Then post in the Student Portal area of the forums, or open a ticket with the helpdesk.
