Community FAQ
Using the community
What is this community for?
It is where Saving Grace families ask questions and get answers — from each other and from staff. Two things live here: discussions, where you can ask anything and other parents reply, and a Knowledge Base of written answers to the questions that come up most. It is run by the school, and staff answer here.
Do I need to be a Saving Grace family to use it?
No. Anyone can read the public forums and the whole Knowledge Base, and anyone considering home education is welcome to ask. Some areas — the grade communities in particular — are private to enrolled families, because that is where people discuss their own children.
What is the difference between the forums, the Knowledge Base and the helpdesk?
Ask the forums anything another family might also want the answer to. Read the Knowledge Base for a settled, written answer that has been checked. Use the helpdesk for anything about your own child, your account or your fees — that is private, and it does not belong in a public thread.
How do I get access to the private grade communities?
They are open to verified Saving Grace parents. If you are enrolled and cannot see them, contact the office — verification is linked to your family's enrolment rather than to the account you signed up with, so the two sometimes need to be matched up.
Asking and answering
How do I ask a question that actually gets answered?
Put the specifics in the title — the grade and the subject. "Grade 7 maths: dividing fractions" gets answered; "Please help" does not. Then say what you have already tried and where exactly it went wrong. Most unanswered questions are unanswered because nobody could tell what was being asked.
How quickly will someone reply?
Other parents often reply within a day. Staff work through public questions during the week, and no public question should sit unanswered for more than five working days. If yours has, say so in the thread — it will have been missed rather than ignored.
What is an official response?
A reply marked as an official response comes from Saving Grace staff and is the school's position, not one parent's experience. It is marked so you can tell the two apart at a glance, because on most forums you cannot.
Can I ask about my child's marks, fees or account here?
Please do not. Anything about a specific mark, a piece of feedback or a task that will not submit goes to your child's teacher in Canvas, because that is where the work is. Anything about fees, documents or access goes to the office. Both are private; a forum is not.
Privacy and safety
Who can see what I post?
It depends where you post it. Public forums can be read by anyone on the internet and can appear in search results. Private grade communities are visible only to verified parents and staff, are never shown to search engines, and are excluded from the site's sitemap. If you are unsure which you are in, look for the "Parents only" badge at the top of the page.
Will my posts show up on Google?
Posts in public forums can, yes — that is the point of them, because the next family searching the same question finds the answer. Nothing in a private forum is indexed. Member profiles are never indexed either.
Can I post a photo of my child's work?
In a public forum, post the question or the method rather than the page. Photographs tend to carry a name, a school stamp or a learner number in a corner, and once something is public it can be copied before anyone edits it. In a private grade community this matters less, but the same care is worth taking.
How do I report a post, or raise a problem?
Use the feedback form linked in the footer of every page, or contact the office. Reports are read by moderators, and you do not have to justify raising one.
Can I edit or remove something I posted?
You can edit your own posts for a period after posting. If something needs to come down after that — a detail you would rather not have shared, most often — ask a moderator through the feedback form and it will be removed.
Questions about the school itself
Where do I find answers about curricula, fees, matric and enrolment?
On the main Saving Grace website — the school's own FAQ page answers what the school offers, what it costs, how matric works and how to enrol. That page is the authoritative one for anything commercial. This community explains how it all works in practice, and the Knowledge Base goes into detail on the questions parents ask most.
How do I contact Saving Grace directly?
Through the helpdesk. Phone +27 21 300 8859, or use the contact routes listed on the Saving Grace helpdesk. Anything about your child's actual work is fastest through their teacher in Canvas. There is no WhatsApp support line — a helpdesk ticket reaches the team and leaves a record you can point back to, which a chat message does not.
Is Saving Grace registered and accredited?
Yes — and rather than restate the detail here, where it could go out of date, see the school's own FAQ page on the main website, which is kept current.
