Leaving Saving Grace: how deregistration works

Last reviewed 23 August 2026

The short answer

One month's written notice by email is required. Without it, invoices continue to be generated. There is also an online deregistration form to complete. The R1 050 registration fee is non-refundable.

Families leave for all sorts of ordinary reasons — a move, a change of circumstances, a child returning to a mainstream school. The process is straightforward, but the notice period is the part that costs people money if they miss it.

One month’s written notice

You are required to send one month’s written notice of deregistration by email. If you do not, invoices may continue to be generated — so send the email first, before anything else, even if the rest of the paperwork takes you a few days.

The form

There is an online deregistration form which asks for:

  • The learner’s full name and date of birth
  • Parent’s full name and email address
  • The grade the learner would have been entering
  • The curriculum they were following
  • Your family account code
  • The reason for leaving, and any feedback you would like to give

Fees

The R1 050 registration fee is non-refundable.

Two things worth doing before you go

Download anything you want to keep from Canvas — reports, marked work, certificates — while you still have access. And if you are moving your child to another school or provider, remember that your registration for home education with the Provincial Department of Education is separate from your enrolment with Saving Grace, and may need updating too.

If something went wrong

If you are leaving because of a problem rather than a change of circumstances, please tell us through the feedback form. It is read, it is private, and it is how things get fixed for the families who stay.
